On The Move Physical Therapy’s Response to COVID-19

Our Commitment to Keeping Patients and Therapists Safe

As the situation with COVID-19 evolves, you may be aware that several city, county, or state entities have implemented “shelter in place” orders for all non-essential activity. Physical Therapy services are one of the essential healthcare services that has been permitted and encouraged to continue to operate in order to keep our patients healthy and out of hospital and emergency room settings that cannot currently handle the capacity. We want to take the opportunity to share more details about the comprehensive measures our company has implemented while we remain open, including the implementation of a secure telehealth option for individuals who want to complete their treatment remotely. Here’s what we are doing to ensure patients and therapists continue to have access to safe and convenient therapy, without having to visit a clinic.

Screening Procedures

Prior to receiving treatment, we will offer to perform a temperature check using a no-touch scanning thermometer. In addition, every patient will be asked screening questions to determine: (i) if you have symptoms of fever, cough or shortness of breath; (ii) if you have traveled to countries in the past 14 days that have a level 3 travel warning (per the CDC)* and/or have been on a cruise, or; (iii) if you have had close contact with a person confirmed to have the COVID-19 coronavirus. If the answer is yes to any of the questions, our staff will work to reschedule your appointment.

Protecting You & Our Staff

To help prevent the virus from spreading to people in close proximity, the CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings when social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. Our clinicians will wear face masks during the treatment sessions. We also will encourage our patients to wear masks and can provide them upon request. We are aware of the importance of personal hygiene and have implemented stringent handwashing and hygiene protocols with our clinicians. Because it’s only one clinician coming to your home, by choosing home-based therapy, you are drastically reducing the number of germs to which you are exposed. Our clinicians will be limiting what equipment is brought into your house and will be sanitizing and following “bag” technique protocols.

Physical Therapy Telehealth for Patients

If you would rather not have in-person therapy, we offer telehealth visits. These virtual visits are a one-on-one remote therapy visit with your physical therapist. The visits will last for about 30 minutes each, and you will be directly connected through video on your phone, tablet, or computer.
